Our motto says it all -- "Fitness, family, fun -- Whatever it takes!" That's what we're all about:
We believe in working to improve our physical fitness as well as our mental fitness. You'll sweat with a smile when you join our karate classes. You'll feel better about yourself, too, when you know you're doing your best to stay in shape.
This is a family business, run by Sam and Kate Middleton with daughters Miranda and Hannah. We love working together and we appreciate each other's strengths. That concept of family extends to our students. We love having families train together with us -- it makes for some awesome family bonding time. And we love to see our extended karate family make connections with each other.
Family extends to our community as well. We're partners in education with Linden West Elementary Schoolin Gladstone and Oak Park High School in Kansas City, North. There, we've run classes on field days and held a karate booth at carnivals. We've also taught personal safety classes for high school seniors.
We support Synergy Services, a Northland nonprofit that serves survivors of domestic violence. We donate items for the shelter on a regular basis, and ask our students to do the same. We hold an annual silent auction to raise money for the shelter, which other local businesses have contributed to (including Gardens of Delight yoga studio in Parkville, Gladstone Flowers, personal trainer Jim Layton of Kinetic Fitness and massage therapist Gordon George of Liberty).
We're not drill sergeants -- our classes are fun and exciting. We have fun with karate, and we want our students to have fun, too. The best way to learn something is to make it fun. We have separate classes for our Tigers (ages 4-7), Juniors (8-12) and Adults -- different stages of development, different classes to match everyone's idea of fun.
Beyond the training floor, we have fun outside of karate classes. We host picnics, scavenger hunts, poker nights, game nights and more.
Whatever it takes!
Have a bad knee? That won't stop an assailant -- but you can do "whatever it takes" to work around your injury and still practice kenpo safely. Hurt your shoulder and can't do pushups? That's OK, just do "whatever it takes" to work around your issue and still get a good workout. That's what we mean by "whatever it takes!" You don't have to be in perfect shape to learn how to defend yourself.
